Questions

All questions

Who answers when I call?

An independent restoration company that serves Faribault, reached through our call-tracking line. We are not that company. We do not take calls, set prices, or control how soon anyone can come.

Do I pay anything to call?

No. The company that answers charges its own prices for any work, so ask for a written estimate before saying yes.

Water came up through the basement floor drain. Is that covered?

Often not unless you bought it. Triple-I says some policies cover sewer and drain backups but many do not, and you can add a sewer backup rider. A backwater valve lets sewage leave but not come back in.1

The river came into the yard and the basement. Does homeowners insurance pay?

Usually not. Triple-I says water that rises from the bottom up, like an overflowing river, is covered by a separate flood insurance policy.1 A new flood policy generally takes 30 days to begin.2

How high has the Straight River been?

The record on the National Weather Service gauge near Faribault is 14.88 feet, on September 24, 2010. The June 23, 2024 crest reached 12.77 feet, marked preliminary.3

Are you a contractor or a restoration company?

No. This is a free information site with a referral line. We do no restoration work and hold no license.

My pipe is frozen but not broken. What now?

Leave the faucet open, warm the pipe with a hair dryer, an electric heating pad or towels soaked in hot water, never a flame, and call a licensed plumber if you cannot find or thaw the frozen spot.4

Why is my basement wet when it has not flooded?

Triple-I says basement water is often caused by cracks in foundations or floor slabs.1 Making sure the ground slopes away from the foundation and keeping gutters repaired also helps.5

How fast does a wet basement need to be dry?

Within 24 to 48 hours, the EPA says, to prevent mold growth.5

Are you connected to the City of Faribault, Rice County or the utility?

No. We are not connected with any government office, utility or insurer.

How this works

What happens when you call

It is free to call, and calling commits you to nothing.

  1. A man in a flannel shirt stands at the top of the basement stairs on the phone, looking down at water on the basement floor.
    1

    You call

Tell them what happened and where. Have the address ready.

  2. 2

    We connect you

A call network puts you through to an independent local restoration company that serves Faribault and is taking calls.

  3. A technician crouches by a sump pit and points to the pump while the homeowner listens, stone foundation walls behind them.
    3

    They assess and quote

If you want a visit, they look at the damage and quote their own price. Ask for it in writing.

We are a free referral service, not a contractor. The company that answers sets its own prices. How this service works

Two adults and a young girl smile on the porch of an old white house, a maple in autumn colour in the yard.

Want a local company to look at it?

Free to call. An independent restoration company that serves Faribault answers, and you decide what happens next.
